Château des Poupets

From the château

A weekend in Juliénas

Two nights among the vines is enough to taste the northern Crus, walk a golden-stone village, and sleep above the appellation.

01

Friday evening

Arrive via the A6 and the chapel road. Unpack, walk the terrace, and taste Juliénas, Bourgogne white and Clos des Poupets in the vaulted cellar. Dinner in the village or a reserved table nearby — keep it local and early; harvest traffic and November Nouveau both fill the roads.

02

Saturday — the northern Crus

Morning in Juliénas village, then Chénas and the Moulin-à-Vent windmill. Lunch in Fleurie. Afternoon on the Côte du Py in Morgon, or a slower loop through Chiroubles if you prefer altitude and flowers to power. Return to the château before dusk; the ridge light is the point.

03

Sunday — Beaujeu or Little Tuscany

Choose one: Beaujeu and the wine museum if you want history, or Oingt and the Pierres Dorées if you want stone and views. Be back for a last glass on the hill, then Lyon or Geneva in under ninety minutes.

If you have a third night, add Mont Brouilly at sunrise and a long lunch in a Lyon bouchon. The estate can sketch a route around your tastings.
